cHapter fOur'

ruefully >> causing sorrow or pity; pitiable; deplorable
hermit >> any person living in seclusion; recluse
premonition >> a feeling of anticipation of or anxiety over a future event; presentiment

If i ever ran away like Ponyboy and Johnny did I would of never been able to stay in a abandoned church like a hermit for that long, and alwyas having the feeling of premonition for waiting for the police to come. If they would find me and arrest me maybe putting me to a death sentence. It is rueful to always have to think about that if somebody ever did a thing like it.

1.What does Pony mean when he says the socs were "reeling pickled" on page 54?

Pony means that the Socs were really drunk, out of it. Like they couldnt walk straight, and were stumbling.

2. What major event happens in this chapter?

Johnny and Pony went walking through the park and a couple of drunk Socs came up to them, got mad that they "picked up there girls" and came after them. One Socs was drowning Ponyboy in the fountain and then it stopped and Johhny was sitting down and said that he killed Bob, the Socs cause he was drowning Ponyboy. They went to Dally for help afetr this cause they didnt wanna get in trouble with the police so then Dally told them to go to Windrixville and stay in an abandond church until Dally came with news.

3. How did the author foreshadow that Johnny would use his knife in Chapter 2?

The author foreshadowed that Johnny would use his knife when he said if he ever got jumped again, he would use it. Probaly because he is still scard from the last time he got jumped and scared that he doesnt want it to happen again.

4. What would your advice be to Johhny and Ponyboy if they'd come to you for help instead of Dally? Explain.

If it was me they came to, i wouldnt have a clue what to do; i would probaly tell them the first thing that comes to mind. Like go to the police right away and tell them what happened. I'd do this because if i told them to run away id get scared that Id get in trouble with the police to.
