Susan went downstairs and was imploringly asking her mother if she could stay home from school. Her mother said no, Susan sullenly walked away. She waled back into the room and told her mom eludedly that she was feeling sick. Susan was perfectly fine :O. She wanted to stay home so she could hang out with her friends, but she feslt very indignant about what she was doing. Susan was on her way to her friends and couldnt believe what she was doing so she walked home and explained it to her mother, which said that coming back and telling her was very gallant.

1. Why does Pony have a problem with Johnny's idea to disguise themselves?
Because Pony doesnt like the idea of cutting off all of his hair and dying it because he feels thats what makes him a Greaser and his hair was the best feature about him and that him and Sodapopo had the best hair around and he was proud of it. He didnt want to get rid of it.
2. What does Pony mean when he says, "I was supposed to be the deep one" (p. 75)?
Pony was reading Johnny " Gone in the Wind " and was talking about how Johnny got more things in there then he did and thats when he said he was supposed to be the deep one. Meaning that Ponyboy is the one whos into books and poetry and is the smart one.
3. Why does Johnny think he is a hero (p. 76)? Do you think Dally is a hero based on what he did?
Johnny thinks Dally is a hero because he is gallant and always takes whats comming at him. Like in the book how Two-bit broke the schools windows and the police went after Dallas about that and put him in jail, he didnt even rat on Two-Bit. In Johnny's eyes, he thinks thats what a true heros like. I would agree with Johnny that Dallas is a hero based on what Johnnys thinking.
4. Why does Pony realize he doesn't like Dally? Can you explain what he means by this?
He realized he doesnt like Dally when Johnny was taking about him being a hero.
He liked him least because he didnt have Sodas understanding or dash, Two-Bits humour, or Darrys superman qualities. Then he sayd that Dallas was real & that scared him. because Ponyboy always looks for a hero being like one in a book or fairytale and Dallas was real.

5. Examine Robert Frost's poem, Nothing Gold can Stay. What do you think the poem is saying? How might this apply to the characters in the novel?
When the poem says " Natures first green is gold " i think it means when your young- (like your first green) your gold and it wont last that long so you have to treasure it now because it will end soon. I think the poems talking about Ponyboy.
6. On page 78, Johnny compares Pony and his brothers to their parents. Which one of your parents are you most like? What similarities do you share?
I don't know if im more like any of my parents. But I have been told i look like my dads side of the family and i get my athlecticness part from my dads side too, but i do have some qualities from my mom.
7. What does Pony mean when he says he drinks Pepsis like a friend (p.78)?
Ponyboy means thathe drinks Pepsi so much, so often that its kinda of like a friend.
Like you always hang out with your friend and you know alot about them, thats like Pony and his Pepsi.
8. What's a 'heater'? Why does Dally have one?
A heater is a slang for a gun. Dally has one for a bluff, so if he ever gets jumped or gets in a fight with a bunch of Socs, he can pull that out and use it as a bluff. Becuase the firearm isnt loaded.
9. Why are the socs and the greasers going to fight in the vacant lot?
Because the Socs are mad at the Greasers because they killed there main Socs - Bob (Johnny). And there angry because of that and want to get them back.
10. Who's the spy for the greasers? Does this surprise you? Why or why not?
Cherry is the spy. This doesnt suprise me at all because she only wants to help Ponyboy and Johnny, and Dallas.
Cherry is Ponyboy and Johnnys friend and has a little thing for Dallas. And no one would think that she would be giving out the Socs info to the greasers because she is a Scos herslef. Maybe another reason why she would do this is because she think that part of it is her fault.
